Manila Archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula presided over the Fiesta Mass for the Maria, Mahal na Ina ng Awa Mission Station, held at the Barangay Mauway Covered Court in Mandaluyong City on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Among those present during the celebration were Rev. Fr. Jojo Panelo, Rev. Fr. Arnel Calata, the clergy, and the lay faithful of the Mission Station.
In his homily, the cardinal reflected on how Mary became a channel of God’s mercy because she trusted in His promises.
Cardinal Advincula cited specific instances in which Mary lived out her faith through her care for her cousin Elizabeth during and after her pregnancy, her presentation of the Baby Jesus to the shepherds, and her intervention when the wine ran out during the wedding at Cana.
He further reflected on how Mary, by joining the disciples in their fear and sadness after Christ’s death, continued to become a vessel of hope.
The cardinal encouraged the faithful to follow Mary’s example by willingly accompanying and empathizing with others.
Cardinal Advincula ended his homily with a call to the faithful to listen to Mary’s teachings, continue looking to her example, and trust that she is present throughout life’s journey.
